Shred-a-thon slated today in downtown<\/b><\/p>\n

The city of Kent and HomeStreet Bank will host a free Shred-a-thon for residents to help prevent identity theft from 10 a.m to 2 p.m. today at the HomeStreet Bank parking lot, 505 Harrison St.<\/b><\/p>\n

Residents should bring paper documents; the shredder cannot process metal, plastic bags or DVDs.<\/p>\n

Each resident will be limited to three grocery bags of materials. The event runs until 2 p.m. or until the shredding truck is full.<\/p>\n

KDP anniversary event set for June 21<\/b><\/p>\n

The Kent Downtown Partnership has scheduled its annual Anniversary Board Installation for June 21 at the Kent Senior Activity Center.<\/p>\n

The event runs 5:30-9:30 p.m. and includes a dinner and auction. Dinner will be catered by H.D. Hotspurs of Kent.<\/p>\n

Auction items include 12 months of floral arrangements, four Mariner box-seat tickets, golfing and dinner for four at Druids Glen, water-rafting trips on the Skagit River, karate lessons and a free uniform, and a Seattle Thunderbird suite.<\/p>\n

Gourmet Steve restaurant opens<\/b><\/p>\n

Gourmet Steve, a deli restaurant featuring sandwiches, salads and hot meals to go, has opened at 216 E. Gowe St. in Kent, about one-half block west of Central Avenue.<\/p>\n
