KentHOPE<\/a> Chair Pat Gray and previous Day Center guest Rhonda Tilford will accept the proclamation on behalf of all those who serve the homeless in Kent.<\/p>\n<\/p>\nThe purpose of World Homeless Day is to draw attention to homeless people\u2019s needs locally and provide opportunities for the community to get involved in responding to homelessness.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
There were 3,772 people found staying outdoors on January 23 in King County during the annual One Night Count. People were found sleeping in doorways, beneath overpasses, in their vehicles, in alleys or walking around, including 135 men, women and children in Kent. The numbers do not include people living in shelters.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
In September, the KentHOPE Day Center served an average of 31 women and three children per day. Volunteers served 2,372 meals. Eleven women found housing and six found jobs.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The KentHOPE Women and Children\u2019s Day Center, 9009 Canyon Drive, is open from 7 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. every day of the week.<\/p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
