The Spokane Chiefs defeated the Seattle Thunderbirds 6-3 on Sunday afternoon at Comcast Arena in Everett in a preseason game.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

This was the T-Birds’ second and final game at the Everett Silvertips Preseason Tournament. They lost in overtime to the Portland Winterhawks 4-3 on Friday afternoon. The T-Birds are 0-1-1-0 so far in preseason with four games remaining on the schedule.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Seattle opened the scoring 1:10 into the game on a goal from Tyler Alos. Mitch Elliot and Brayden Low had the assists.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Spokane tied the game 1-1 on a goal by Jackson Playfair with under minute to play in the first. Cole Wedman and Adam Helewka were credited with assists on the goal.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

The Chiefs outshot the T-Birds 11-4 in the first period.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Mitch Holmberg gave the Chiefs a 2-1 lead with a power-play goal at 2:10 of the second period. Dylan Walchuk and Todd Fiddler got assists on the go-ahead goal.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Spokane extended the lead to 3-1 at 10:28 of the second on a goal from Collin Valcourt. Playfair had the only assist on the goal.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Daniel Cotton started the game for the T-Birds and made 15 saves on 18 shots. He was replaced by Justin Myles after the Chiefs third goal, as this was the first stoppage of play at the midway point of the game.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Holmberg scored an unassisted goal at 12:27 of the second to make it a 4-1 Chiefs lead. This was his second goal of the game.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Riley Sheen cut the Chiefs lead to two goals at 18:22 of the second. Luke Lockhart assisted on Sheen’s first goal of the preseason.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Spokane led 22-8 in shots after two periods.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

The Chiefs went in front 5-2 on a goal from Todd Fiddler at 9:39 of the third period. Walchuk was the only Chief with an assist.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Elliot cut the lead back to two goals at 13:57 of the third off an assist from Michal Holub.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Holmberg scored an empty-net goal at 19:30 of the third to seal the win for the Chiefs.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Myles made 15 saves on 17 shots in his half of the game.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

On the preseason road<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

The T-Birds will travel to Kennewick for two games at the Red Lion Hotels’ Preseason Tournament at the Toyota Center. On Friday, Sept. 7, the T-Birds will face the Tri-City Americans at 7 p.m. On Saturday, Sept. 8, the T-Birds will play the Winterhawks at 3 p.m.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

The T-Birds finish out the preseason schedule with a home-and-home series against the Everett Silvertips. The T-Birds host the Silvertips on Friday, Sept. 14, at 7:35 p.m. at ShoWare Center. They are at Comcast Arena in Everett to play the Silvertips at 7:05 p.m. Single-game tickets for the home preseason game are on sale.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

The T-Birds will open the 2012-13 regular season against the Winterhawks at ShoWare Center on Saturday, Sept. 22 at 7:05 p.m.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

T-Birds single-game tickets for the 2012-13 season are available online at the T-Birds website<\/a> and at the ShoWare Center box office. The ShoWare Center Box Office is open Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday game days at 10 a.m. and Sunday game days at noon.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
