Kent’s Rachel Jones has been selected to participate in the Seattle Pageant.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Girls qualified for the pageant following an application and interview process.\u00a0Jones, 12, will compete June 17 at the Rialto Theatre in Tacoma.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Jones, daughter of Randy and Melissa Jones, attends Rainier Christian Middle\u00a0School in Covington.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
At the pageant, contestants will be judged in an onstage interview, as well as casual and formal wear segments. Personality is the number one aspect that each contestant is judged on during different phases of competition.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Girls compete for prize money and specialty gifts. Young ladies ages 7-19 compete in four different divisions.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Seattle winners advance to the national competition in Orlando, Fla., where more than $30,000 in prizes and awards will be up for grabs.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Through sponsorship, each contestant receives the necessary training, rehearsals and financial support.
