The City of Kent has scheduled what it\u2019s calling a \u201cTopping Out\u201d ceremony for the upcoming Kent Events Center, and the public is invited.<\/p>\n<p>The event runs 2:15-3 p.m. April 15, at the center project site on West James Street and Fifth Avenue North.<\/p>\n<p>Participants at the ceremony can sign their name on the last steel beam of the center, and watch as the beam is put into place by crane. Limited-edition commemorative \u201cbeam-signing\u201d pens will be given to the first 200 guests. Parking is available at the Metro Park &amp; Ride at 902 W. In addition to local dignitaries, the Kent-Meridian High School Jazz Band will be at the ceremony.<\/p>\n<p>The 6,025-seat arena center is slated for completion by January 2009.
