Many 911 calls were received by Valley Com Dispatch from the complex located at the 4800 block of Kent Des Moines Road reporting the heavy smoke in the hallway.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>The first arriving fire department unit found thick black smoke from the building. Due to the size of the building and the number of residents a second alarm was immediately called bringing additional help. Firefighters were able to locate the fire in the kitchen of a ground floor apartment. The fire was quickly extinguished and firefighters searched for and extinguished any hot spots in the ceiling and walls.
