{"id":19572,"date":"2014-06-25T15:16:10","date_gmt":"2014-06-25T22:16:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/spiken.wpengine.com\/news\/kentwood-graduate-on-to-minor-leagues\/"},"modified":"2016-10-23T03:25:33","modified_gmt":"2016-10-23T10:25:33","slug":"kentwood-graduate-on-to-minor-leagues","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kentreporter.com\/sports\/kentwood-graduate-on-to-minor-leagues\/","title":{"rendered":"Kentwood graduate on to minor leagues"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><p>Alexander Lee, a Kentwood High School and Radford University (Va.) graduate, signed with the Baltimore Orioles and is playing in the organization&#8217;s rookie division in Sarasota, Fla.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>&#8220;It&#8217;s a little more laid back than it was in college,&#8221; Lee said. &#8220;They let us do our own thing and expect us to be able to come and play when they need us to.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>His day-to-day routine involves a 7 a.m. wakeup call, a full day of practice, then games.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>Lee hopes to move up to play for the Orioles one day, but said that he sees it being a long climb through the minors.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>&#8220;I can just play, and if it catches someone&#8217;s eye, it&#8217;s great,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>A first baseman, Lee played 54 games with the Radford Highlanders in 2013, and ended his season with a .278 batting average and a .983 fielding percentage.
