WSDOT has extended the comment period on the SDEIS to April 15. WSDOT will consider comments from the public before identifying a preferred Montlake interchange design this spring. A final environmental impact statement is scheduled to be released in about a year, an important and required step before seeking construction permits.<\/p>\n

The Washington State Legislature has endorsed a six-lane replacement for the corridor, which includes two general-purpose lanes and one transit\/HOV lane in each direction. A new floating bridge is scheduled to open for drivers in 2014. The governor and Legislature established a total project budget of $4.65 billion.<\/p>\n
