A former Kentridge High School teacher faces an Aug. 18 trial in King County Superior Court for attempted commercial sexual abuse of a minor.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The trial was scheduled to start July 28 but a judge agreed to continue it to August, according to the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Brent Patrick Conley, 28, of Seattle, pleaded not guilty to the charge in October and is out on bail.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Seattle Police arrested Conley in September outside of a downtown McDonald’s as part of an undercover sting where a detective posed online as a 15-year-old girl seeking sex with older men in exchange for money.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Conley was a first year English and social studies teacher at the school last fall until his arrest. He is no longer employed by the Kent School District.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The former Kentridge teacher reportedly responded to an ad in a casual encounters section of a popular website featuring a title of, “Student looking for older men,” according to charging papers. Conley reportedly responded through email and started up a correspondence where he was told the girl was a high school cheerleader looking to make some money by having sex.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The conversations via email and text messages continued for two days and Conley reportedly agreed to pay $100 for sex. He agreed to meet her at the McDonald’s in downtown Seattle on Fourth Avenue. Officers observed Conley at about 7:06 p.m. on Sept. 18, arriving and parking at the agreed upon meeting location before making their arrest.<\/p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
