GRAND SLAM BASEBALL AND FASTPITCH CAMPS<\/p>\n

Grand Slam Camps for baseball and fastpitch will be held at Petrovitsky Park from July 12-15th and at South County Ballfields Park from July 19-22. The camps serve players ages 7-14. The complete camp covers all aspects of the game and is held each day from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The Skills Camp is held from 1:30-4 p.m. daily and provides hitting instruction as well. Campers select a defensive position to focus on as well as pitcher, catcher or infield. Since 1993, Grand Slam, a non-profit organization, has had the goal of providing quality instruction in a fun environment while exposing kids to positive role models. Games are 11-v-11, with practices on weeknights and games primarily on weekends at local fields from mid September through Nov. 2. Leagues are separated by gender and grade level. COED LEAGUES for pre-K and K-1 also will be offered. Pre-K games are 5-v-5, and players must be at least 3 years old by Aug. 31, 2010. Lessons will be offered for beginners (ages 6-10, and ages 11-14) and beginner-intermediate (ages 15-adult) throughout the summer at Garrison Creek Park on Kent\u2019s East Hill, and at Kent-Meridian High School and taught by USPTA-certified pro Steve Walters. Two lessons per week over the course of four weeks for a total of eight lessons will be offered in each session. Lessons are 60 minutes each, with four-week sessions starting July 6 and Aug. 3, and addition sessions for ages 11-14 and 15-adult starting Sept. 7, and a final session for ages 11-14 starting Oct. 5. These swim and run workouts are for athletes age 18 and older. Participants must be able to swim 100 yards without stopping. Wet suits are mandatory to swim in deep water or along the buoy line. Running workouts will take place around Lake Meridian and on the Soos Creek Trail. Sessions are scheduled for Wednesdays, from now through Aug. 25, from 6:15-8 p.m. at Lake Meridian Park.
