Nachiketha Shamaprasad of Kentridge High School is one of 54 high school seniors from the state who have won 2011 National Merit scholarships.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Each student will receive a $2,500 scholarship that can be used at any U.S. college or university.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Shamaprasad was one of 2,500 national winners from a pool of 15,000 finalists, according to the National Merit Scholarship Corp.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The winners were selected by a committee of college admissions officers and high school counselors. The students are judged to have the strongest combination of accomplishments, skills, and potential for success in rigorous<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
college studies.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The winners were announced May 4.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
