Kentridge High School hosts its 17th annual Kent-area high school PTSA Cherry Blossom Festival from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The opening ceremony begins at 5:30 p.m. in the school’s main gymnasium, 12430 SE 208th St.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The festival celebrates spring with Japanese cultural traditions such as taiko drumming, judo demonstrations, children’s activity booths, Japanese folk tales, recitals and cultural displays. A variety of Japanese cuisine will be available, including yakisoba, takoyaki, curry rice, and gyoza (pot stickers) as well as a variety of desserts.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Admission is $5 in advance, $7 at the door. Children under 12 are free when accompanied by a paid ticket-holder.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Proceeds benefit Kent-area high school Japanese exchange programs.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
