\u2022 The campaign lasts between now and Dec. 15<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The fridges and freezers must be clean, empty, defrosted, and in working condition. All units are recycled in an environmentally responsible manner and most of the glass, metal, and plastic is collected and reused. Last year, PSE collected more than 44,000 pounds of reusable material.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
PSE took in 365 old, working refrigerators and freezers in 2014, and raised $18,250 for Food Lifeline. In addition to helping families who need it, customers also saw another benefit: lower power bills because recycling old fridges and freezers can help save up to $200 a year on energy costs.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
A few conditions:<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
\u2022 Those taking advantage of the program must be a current PSE residential electric customer<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
\u2022 The customer must own the appliance, and it must be between 10 and 30 cubic feet in size<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
\u2022 The unit needs to be in working, cooling condition, and it must be plugged in the night prior to pickup<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
