The Everett Silvertips <\/a>defeated the Seattle Thunderbirds<\/a> 5-4 in overtime Saturday night at the Comcast Arena in Everett.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Seattle (17-25-1-1) opened up a1-0 lead at 8:57 of the first period. Luke Lockhart took a shot that rebounded into the slot where Seth Swenson got a stick on it. Swenson took a shot that Everett goalie Kent Simpson stopped but Connor Sanvido put back the rebound for his fourth goal of the year.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Both teams had six shots on goal in the first period.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n The T-Birds went in front 2-0 when Colin Jacobs scored a 5-on-3 power-play goal at 2:23 of the second period. Lockhart took a shot that rebounded off Simpson to the high slot. Dave Sutter got the puck and made a quick cross slot pass to Jacobs.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Everett (10-28-1-8) got on the board at 4:28 of the first when Kohl Bauml scored. Josh Birkholz and Ryan Harrison were credited with the assists.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Bauml tied the game 2-2 with a power-play goal at 6:27 of the first. Harrison and Ryan Murray were credited with the assists.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n The T-Birds regained the lead 3-2 at 16:26 of the second. An Everett clearing attempt went off and stanchion and came to Jared Hauf just inside the Everett blue line. Hauf put a wrist shot on goal that beat Simpson over the glove for his second goal of the season. Swenson was credited with an assist on the goal.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Seattle outshot Everett 12-9 in the second period and led 18-15 in total shots after two periods.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Birkholz tied the game 3-3 for Everett at 6:58 of the third period. Reid Petryk and Austin Adam had the assists.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Justin Hickman gave the T-Birds a 4-3 lead at 16:50 of the third. Chance Lund got to a loose puck in the left corner and brought the puck up the boards. Lund cycled the puck low to Tyler Alos. Alos came up the boards and then put a shot on goal with Hickman in front of Simpson. Hickman tipped the puck past Simpson for his ninth goal of the year.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Birkholz tied the game 4-4 with 46 seconds left in the third. Everett had pulled Simpson for an extra attacker when Birkholz scored the tying goal. Josh Winquist had the only assist on the goal.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Everett outshot Seattle 15-9 in the third period.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Bauml scored the winner, on the power play, at 3:21 of overtime to secure the win for the Silvertips. Murray and Birkholz were credited with the assists.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Everett outshot Seattle 5-0 in overtime and 35-27 in the game.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Seattle goalie Calvin Pickard made 30 saves on 35 shots and his record is now 17-20-1-1.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Simpson stopped 23 of 27 shots and his record is now 8-23-1-5.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n The T-Birds finish out the weekend against the Vancouver Giants on Sunday at Pacific Coliseum at 5pm.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n T-Birds single game tickets for the 2011-12 season are available online at the T-Birds website<\/a> and at the ShoWare Center box office.
