A roof-mounted ventilation fan caught fire and fell to the floor of a large concrete tilt-up warehouse early Thursday morning in the 1200 block of Second Avenue North in Kent.

Investigators ruled the cause as accidental.

Kent Fire Department Regional Fire Authority (RFA) firefighters responded to the fire at 2:08 a.m., after employees reported a fire in the aluminum can manufacturing facility. Passersby also reported the fire, which they could see coming from the roof, according to a Kent RFA media release.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire on the interior. Crews investigated the roof area where the fan was previously mounted to ensure that the fire had not spread to the roofing material or structure.

All of the employees were able to get out safely. There were no reports of injuries.

Crews from the Renton Fire Department, King County Medic 1 and the Zone 3 Explorer Rehab unit also responded to the call.
