The Calgary Hitmen defeated the Seattle Thunderbirds 10-2 Sunday night at the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary, Alberta.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The T-Birds face the Prince George Cougars in back-to-back games on Tuesday and Wednesday, to end their five-game road trip.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Calgary (27-8-2-3) took a 1-0 lead at 9:45 of the first period while the teams were skating four-on-four. Alex Roach took a shot from the left point with traffic in front of Seattle goalie Danny Mumaugh. The shot beat Mumaugh on the glove side for the goal. Jake Virtanen and Elliott Peterson had the assists.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Chase Lang extended the Hitmen lead to 2-0 at 17:15 of the first. The T-Birds turned the puck over in front of Mumaugh the Lang got the loose puck and beat the goalie high.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The Hitmen went in front 3-0 on a slap shot from Kenton Helgesen at 18:07 of the first. Virtanen and Beck Malenstyn had the assists.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Seattle (22-14-2-3) outshot Calgary 7-6 in the first period.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Pavel Padakin scored an unassisted shorthanded goal at 15:06 of the second period to give the Hitmen a 4-0 lead.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Calgary took a 5-0 lead on a goal from Greg Chase at 16:58 of the third. Roach had the only assist on the goal.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Seattle replaced Mumaugh with Justin Myles after the fifth Calgary goal. Mumaugh stopped 11 of 16 shots and his record is now 11-8-2-3.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The T-Birds got on the board with a power-play goal by Ryan Gropp at 17:53 of the second. Justin Hickman moved the puck to Shea Theodore at the left point. Theodore took a shot that hit Calgary goalie Chris Driedger in the pads. Gropp was on top of the crease, grabbed the rebound and slid the puck past Driedger for his seventh goal of the season.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Seattle outshot Calgary 14-10 in the second period and led 21-16 in total shots after two periods.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The Hitmen scored five goals in the third period to get to 10 goals. Zane Jones scored at 4:40, Travis Sanheim at 7:46, Brady Brassart at 8:21, Virtanen at 9:07 and Mahon at 14:44.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Calvin Spencer tipped an Alexander Delnov shot from the left boards past Driedger at 17:20 of the third for his first goal as a T-Birds. Kevin Wolf had the second assist.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Myles finished with 12 saves 17 shots.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Driedger improves his record to 17-7-2-3 by stopping 26 of 28 shots.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
