For the Reporter<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/p>\n Highline Community College’s Vice President for Institutional Advancement, Dr. Lisa Skari, was recently named the 2013 District 7 Communicator of the Year by the National Council for Marketing & Public Relations (NCMPR).<\/p>\n<\/p>\n “We are very proud that NCMPR has chosen Dr. Skari for this prestigious award,” said HCC President, Dr. Jack Bermingham. “The College has benefited immensely from Lisa’s dynamic leadership and her success in building relationships that she transformed into national, regional or local partnerships.”<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Skari has been leading HCC’s Institutional Advancement division since 2001. She earned her doctorate in education from Washington State University in 2011. Skari has received accolades for her research including the Council for Advancement and Support of Education’s (CASE) 2012 Outstanding Dissertation Award in Alumni Relations.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n The National Council for Marketing & Public Relations represents marketing and public relations professionals at community and technical colleges. As one of the fastest-growing affiliates of the American Association of Community Colleges, NCMPR has more than 1,550 members from more than 650 colleges across the United States, Canada and various other countries.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n The prestigious Communicator of the Year Award recognizes a two-year college marketing, public relations or communications professional that demonstrates leadership in the area of college communications and marketing. The Communicator Award is presented annually in each of NCMPR’s seven districts, and district winners are then considered for the national award.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
