As of Oct.20, Kent City officials had distributed more than 72,500 free, empty sandbags to residents.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe residents are getting in shape,\u201d said Tim LaPorte, city interim public works director, in a report to the City Council Oct. 20.<\/p>\n

People have used more than 380 tons of sand so far at six sites set up by the city.<\/p>\n

Residents can get the sandbags between 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Oct. 24 and 31 at the City Operations facility, 5821 S. 240th St. Each household is limited to 100 sandbags.<\/p>\n

Residents can fill the sandbags at one of six locations during daylight hours and should bring their own shovel. The six locations are:<\/p>\n

The old Panther Lake Elementary School, 20831 108th Ave. S.E.; Fred Meyer store, 10201 S.E. 240th St.; Earthworks Park, 742 E. Titus St.; Home Depot store, 26120 104th Ave. S.E.; Totem Middle School, 25630 40th Ave. S.; and Grandview Park, 3600 S. 228th St., in SeaTac.<\/p>\n
