Connect with nature in an urban setting Saturday at the Tukwila Backyard Wildlife Festival.<\/p>\n
Now in its 10th year, the festival features all-day fun from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Tukwila Community Center, 12424 42nd Ave. S.<\/p>\n
Throughout the day, the center will be the home of workshops, presentations, arts and crafts, nature and food booths and live music.<\/p>\n
Also starting at 9 a.m. will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony at ukwila’s newest certified wildlife habitat, Codiga Park, at 9 a.m. Codiga Park is located at 12535 50th Place S., Tukwila.<\/p>\n
Here is the schedule of events:<\/p>\n
9 a.m. to 3 p.m.: Festival at the Community Center. Workshops, presentations and events; arts and crafts and nature booths; live music; kids area; arts and crafts station; and food booths.<\/p>\n
10 a.m.: Guided Bird Tour with the Rainier Audubon Society.<\/p>\n
11:30 a.m.: Ed Hume – Secrets for Success in Growing Vegetables<\/p>\n
1 p.m.: Linda Chalker-Scott – Miracle or Marketing-Do Garden Remedies Really Work?<\/p>\n
2 p.m.: Seattle Tilth – Composting At Home<\/p>\n
3-5 p.m.: Self-guided tour of local gardens certified as Backyard Wildlife Habitats<\/p>\n
