Tons of fun are in the works for children of all ages at the \u201cYou Me We Fest\u201d from 6-9:30 p.m. Feb. 18 at the ShoWare Center in Kent.<\/p>\n
Event organizers also have released the list of performers (see below).<\/p>\n
The free event is a celebration of Kent\u2019s being named, for the first time ever, one of the 100 Best Communities for Young People in America by America\u2019s Promise Alliance, according to a city of Kent media release.<\/p>\n
America’s Promise Alliance is the nation\u2019s largest partnership organization dedicated to youth and children.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe want to celebrate Kent\u2019s kids with the community in a big way, so we\u2019ve asked for ideas and more importantly participation from a lot of different groups,\u201d said Julie Stangle, city of Kent youth and teen program manager. \u201cThe response has been terrific. Families won\u2019t want to miss You Me We. It\u2019s a celebration with a street fair atmosphere.\u201d<\/p>\n
Doors open at 6 p.m. with stage entertainment by master of ceremonies Greg Bennick, a nationally renowned juggler, comedian and speaker. Other local performers join the act at 6:35 p.m.<\/p>\n

6:50 \u2013 7:25 p.m. – Soul\u2019d Out Christian Center Dance (Elementary and High School student dance performance); Bollywood Glamour \u2013 Kentridge High School (East Indian-style dance); Pacific Islander Club – Kent Meridian High School and Mill Creek Middle School (Tahitian Couples dance, traditional island dance and chant); Chatelaines Dance Team \u2013 Kentridge High School (45 member drill team, \u201cRockette\u201d-style dance)<\/p>\n
7:30-8:00 p.m. – Remarks, Kent Mayor Suzette Cooke; Dr. Merri Rieger, Chief Student Achievement Officer, Kent School District; Christopher Epps, Senior Director, Communications & Marketing, America\u2019s Promise Alliance; Maira Perez and RJ Anderson, students of the Institute for Community Leadership<\/p>\n

The event is being organized by several community groups, including the Kent School District, Kent Parks Department, youth groups, sports and scouting organizations, churches, local businesses, service clubs and others.<\/p>\n
