SEATTLE – The Calgary Hitmen defeated the Seattle Thunderbirds 4-1 Sunday night in front of 4,738 at KeyArena.<\/p>\n
Calgary took a 1-0 lead at 5:30 of the first on an unassisted goal by Brett Sonne.<\/p>\n
Seattle tied the game 1-1 with a power-play goal at 14:37 of the first. Thomas Hickey carried from the left point across the blue line. Hickey made a backhand pass to Jonathan Parker in the left circle. Parker one- timed Hickey’s pass but Calgary goalie Martin Jones made the save. The puck rebounded to Greg Scott in the crease and Scott slammed the puck into an empty net for his ninth goal of the year.<\/p>\n
Seattle (13-15-1-2) outshot Calgary 13-9 in the first period.<\/p>\n
Sonne scored a power-play goal at 12:35 of the second to put the Hitmen in front 2-1. Kyle Bortis and Brandon Kozun had the assists.<\/p>\n
Calgary (26-5-1-1) outshot Seattle 19-9 in the second period and led 28-21 in total shots after two periods.<\/p>\n
Carson McMillan scored an unassisted shorthanded goal at 7:05 of the third period.<\/p>\n
Brandon Kozun added a power-play goal at 13:19 of the third to make it a 4-1 Hitmen lead. Bortis and Sonne had the assists.<\/p>\n
Seattle outshot Calgary 10-8 in the third period. The Hitmen finished the game with a 36-31 advantage in shots.<\/p>\n
Seattle goalie Calvin Pickard had 32 saves on 36 shots and his record falls to 9-8-1-2.<\/p>\n
Jones had 30 saves on 31 shots and his record improves to 17-3-1-1.<\/p>\n
