The Vancouver Giants defeated the Seattle Thunderbirds 4-2 Sunday night at Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver.<\/p>\n

Seattle (1-2-0-0) took a 1-0 lead at 14:13 of the first period. Charles Wells fed the puck to Colin Jacobs who carried it up the left side. In the left circle in the Vancouver Jacob looked to his right then put a quick shot on goal. Vancouver goalie Brendan Jensen got a piece of the puck but it snuck under his left pad for Jacobs second goal of the year.<\/p>\n

Vancouver (2-1-0-0) outshot Seattle 9-6 in the first period.<\/p>\n

The T-Birds went in front 2-0 at 1:49 of the second period. Seattle caused a turnover in the neutral zone and the puck went into the Vancouver zone on the left side. Tyler Alos chased down the puck and carried it towards the Giants net. At the goal line Alos crossed the puck through the crease to Jonathon Parker at the right post. Parker pushed the pass past a sprawling Jensen for his first goal of the year.<\/p>\n

Sebastian Svendsen scored at 5:50 of the second to cut the T-Birds lead to one goal. Brendan Gallagher and James Henry had assists on the goal.<\/p>\n

Vancouver tied the game 2-2 when Lance Bouma scored at 10:45 of the second. Neil Manning and Kevin Connauton had assists on the goal.<\/p>\n

The Giants led 27-12 in shots after two periods by outshooting the T-Birds 18-6 in the second.<\/p>\n

Manning scored an unassisted power-play goal at 1:37 of the third period to give the Giants a 3-2 lead.<\/p>\n

Vancouver went in front 4-2 at 11:16 of the third when JT Barnett scored. Bouma and Connauton had assists on the goal.<\/p>\n

Both teams had 12 shots on goal in the third period. The Giants finished the game with a 39-24 advantage in total shots.<\/p>\n

Seattle goalie Calvin Pickard made 35 saves on 39 shots and his record is now 1-1-0-0.<\/p>\n

Jensen made 22 saves on 24 shots and his record is now 1-0-0-0.<\/p>\n

The T-Birds next game is Friday, September 25, against the Chilliwack Bruins at 7:35 p.m. at ShoWare Center. They travel to Portland to take on the Winterhawks on Saturday, September 21, at 7 p.m. at Memorial Coliseum.<\/p>\n

T-Birds single game tickets for the 2009-10 season are available online at the T-Birds Web site and at the ShoWare Center box office. The ShoWare Center Box Office is open Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday game days at 10 a.m. and Sunday game days at noon.<\/p>\n
