Residents of Kent’s West Hill have a chance to tell city officials what they think about plans to improve the Pacific Highway South medians as well as light rail coming to town.

The public meeting is at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 15 at Trinity Community Church, 3807 Reith Road.

City officials want to bring improved landscaping this year to the Pacific Highway medians between South 272nd Street and South 233rd Street. The plan is to excavate the old landscaping, upgrade the irrigation system and plant new, hardy shrubs and plants.

Residents can also give input to the city about the landscaping plan online at KentWA.gov/PacHwyMedians.

Meanwhile, Sound Transit will release by April 10 a draft environmental impact statement (EIS) about optional routes and station locations when it extends light rail from SeaTac to Kent (near South 240th Street) by 2023.

Residents can give input about where they would like to see a station built and how far they are willing to walk to the station.

Sound Transit will take online comments starting April 10 at FederalWayLink.org or email to FWLE@SoundTransit.org.

The West Hill Neighborhood Council will co-host the meeting along with the city of Kent and Sound Transit.
