Torklift Central<\/a> is hosting the event and will drop off donation boxes to participating businesses on Monday, Oct. 8.<\/p>\n<\/p>\nKent businesses are challenged to compete against each other to collect food and monetary donations. Donation boxes and related materials are supplied for free. Businesses have the option to sell paper turkeys for $10, which will also go to the food bank. Customers can write their name on the paper turkey and the businesses can hang them on the wall to represent their progress.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Several businesses are on board including Pacific Power Products, which agreed to help match their employee donations.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
\u201cOur goal this year is to reach 2,000 pounds of food and $12,000 for the Kent Food Bank,\u201d said Torklift Central store manager Matt Lynch. \u201cWith the help of local schools and businesses, we hope to achieve this goal.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Kent Food Bank has not received the funding they need to give families a memorable Thanksgiving dinner this year.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
