KENNEWICK – The Tri-City Americans defeated the Seattle Thunderbirds 6-1 Friday night at the Toyota Center.<\/p>\n
Tri-City took a 1-0 lead with a power-play goal by Jordan Messier at 18:22 of the first period. Johnny Lazo and Riley McIntosh had assists on the goal.<\/p>\n
Both teams had nine shots on goal in the first period.<\/p>\n
Brock Sutherland scored at 5:18 of the second period to put the Americans in front 2-0. Kruise Reddick had the only assist on the goal.<\/p>\n
Tri-City took a 3-0 lead at 6:43 of the second on a goal by Jason Reese. Petr Stoklasa and Mitch Fadden had the assists.<\/p>\n
Seattle (12-14-1-2) got on the board at 10:27 of the second on a power-play goal. Jim O’Brien won a face off in left circle of the Americans zone to the left corner. Greg Scott got to the puck in the corner and sent it to David Richard at the left point. Richard stick- handled to the high slot with traffic in front of Tri-City goalie Chet Pickard. Richard beat Pickard over the glove for his eighth goal of the year.<\/p>\n
Reese scored a power-play goal at 12:51 of the second to make it a three-goal lead again for the Americans. Fadden had an assist on the goal.<\/p>\n
Reddick added a power-play goal with 15 seconds left in the second period to give the Americans a four-goal lead. Taylor Procyshen and Fadden had the assists.<\/p>\n
Tri-City (21-7-0-2) outshot Seattle 14-8 in the second period and led 23-17 in total shots after two periods.<\/p>\n
Reese scored his third goal of the game at 13:59 of the third period put the Americans in front 6-1. Fadden had the only assist on the goal.<\/p>\n
The Americans finished the game with a 34-23 advantage in total shots.<\/p>\n
Seattle goalie Jacob DeSerres stopped 28 of 34 shots and his record falls to 4-7-0-0.<\/p>\n
Pickard made 22 saves on 23 shots and his record improves to 17-7-0-2.<\/p>\n
The T-Birds remain on the road to take on the Portland Winter Hawks on Saturday, December 6, at 7:05 p.m. at Memorial Coliseum. They return to the KeyArena to face the Calgary Hitmen a 5:05 p.m. on Sunday, December 7.<\/p>\n
