Children ages 14 and younger are invited to a free fishing event Saturday, May 19 at Kent’s Old Fishing Hole Park along the Green River.

The event gives children an opportunity to catch fish with the help of a guide as well as to learn about boating, river and lake safety from the U.S. Coast Guard. Kids will receive a free fishing pole courtesy of Go Play Outside Alliance of Washington.

The annual event is at the Old Fishing Hole Park on Frager Road, just south of West Meeker Street.

Children are asked not to bring their own fishing equipment as all equipment will be provided.

Space is limited. To register, call the city at 253-856-5030 before May 16. Thirty-minute fishing sessions are available starting at 7:30 a.m.
