{"id":16675,"date":"2011-06-27T11:17:14","date_gmt":"2011-06-27T18:17:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/spiken.wpengine.com\/news\/former-kent-resident-named-top-principal-in-texas\/"},"modified":"2016-10-22T13:15:34","modified_gmt":"2016-10-22T20:15:34","slug":"former-kent-resident-named-top-principal-in-texas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kentreporter.com\/news\/former-kent-resident-named-top-principal-in-texas\/","title":{"rendered":"Former Kent resident named top principal in Texas"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><p>Dawn Smith, a former Kent resident and a graduate of Kent-Meridian High School, was recently named the 2011 Texas Middle School Principal of the Year.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>Smith, known as Dawn Bash when she graduated from Kent-Meridian in the early 1970s, was chosen in May for the award by the <a title=\"texas\" href=\"http:\/\/www.tepsa.org\/\" target=\"_self\">Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association<\/a>. She is principal at Daniel Intermediate School in Duncanville, Texas.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>Smith will represent Texas in October at the National Distinguished Principals program held in Washington, D.C.
