{"id":16629,"date":"2009-04-28T18:10:17","date_gmt":"2009-04-29T01:10:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/spiken.wpengine.com\/news\/fire-guts-kent-home-monday\/"},"modified":"2016-10-22T02:30:35","modified_gmt":"2016-10-22T09:30:35","slug":"fire-guts-kent-home-monday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kentreporter.com\/news\/fire-guts-kent-home-monday\/","title":{"rendered":"Fire guts Kent home Monday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A residential fire Monday night in Kent gutted the home, but its two residents were able to get out safely.<\/p>\n<p>The home is located in the 10200 block of S.E. 228th St., and firefighters from Kent and Renton responded to it at approximately 8 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Kent Deputy Fire Marshal Don Barberie said the first fire crew arrived to find heavy smoke and flames, with about 30 percent of the home involved in the fire.<\/p>\n<p>It took firefighters roughly 20 minutes to knock down the blaze.<\/p>\n<p>The cause of the fire was determined to be a pan of grease that was left on a stove.<\/p>\n<p>The house is uninhabitable, Barberie said, but added its two residents were able to stay with family in the area.<\/p>\n<p>Barberie also said that as a fire-safety precaution, people should put a lid on their pots or pans when cooking with oil or grease.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A residential fire Monday night in Kent gutted the home, but its two residents were able to get out safely.
