For the Reporter<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/p>\n Eu-wanda Eagans recently joined Kent-based Northwest Harvest as its chief operating officer.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Eagans, who lives in the Auburn area, has an extensive background in operations and program management through years of experience in manufacturing and engineering. Her work experience includes companies such as Energizer Battery Co. and General Motors Corp., as well as Washington State government.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n From each of her positions, she has gained valuable perspective around business effectiveness.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n “I am very excited about being a part of the Northwest Harvest team,” Eagans said. “I have a strong desire to make a positive impact on hunger in this state, and the opportunity to work for Northwest Harvest has been a dream come true for me.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n “The opportunity to directly help people in their\u00a0hour of need \u2013 and to be able to use my operational skills to do it \u2013 has been a goal of mine for a long time,” she said. “I look forward to getting fully engaged in the agency’s operations, including procuring food, warehousing, distribution, transportation, and working with frontline hunger relief programs across the state.”<\/p>\n<\/p>\n An avid volunteer, Eagans has helped her favorite causes run more efficiently and successfuly at achieving their missions.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Northwest Harvest is the only nonprofit food bank distributor operating statewide in Washington, providing 1.9 million meals each month to a network of more than 360 food banks, meal programs and high-need schools.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
