Want to learn how to sword fight? Then sign up for a swashbuckling class that starts April 26 as part of the city of Kent’s recreation program at the Kent Memorial Park building, 850 Central Ave. N.<\/p>\n
The class features nine sessions each Monday through June 28, except for May 31. The cost is $90. Participants must be at least 16 years old.<\/p>\n
Instructor Greg Michaels has been a sword-fighting instructor for more than 20 years. Participants only need to bring a thin pair o gardening-type gloves to the class. Michaels provides the swords and lessons.<\/p>\n
Michaels teaches hand-to-hand theatrical combat, including slaps, kicks and punches, as well as sword play with a broadsword and rapier.<\/p>\n
