{"id":16465,"date":"2011-07-29T22:12:05","date_gmt":"2011-07-30T05:12:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/spiken.wpengine.com\/news\/final-race-at-emerald-downs-cancelled-due-to-light-failure-horse-racing\/"},"modified":"2016-10-23T02:55:36","modified_gmt":"2016-10-23T09:55:36","slug":"final-race-at-emerald-downs-cancelled-due-to-light-failure-horse-racing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kentreporter.com\/sports\/final-race-at-emerald-downs-cancelled-due-to-light-failure-horse-racing\/","title":{"rendered":"Final race at Emerald Downs cancelled due to light failure | Horse Racing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><p>The final race on Friday evening\u2019s program at Emerald Downs was cancelled for precautionary reasons due to a lighting failure.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><div>Light towers covering approximately 25 percent of the one-mile oval\u2014from the \u00bd-mile pole to the \u00bc-pole poll\u2014failed approximately 10 minutes prior to the evening\u2019s seventh race, at approximately 9 p.m.<\/div>\n<\/p>\n<p><div><\/div>\n<\/p>\n<p><div>After an approximate 10-minute delay, the seventh race was run without incident, with Hoofprintsintime rallying for a $14.20 victory.<\/div>\n<\/p>\n<p><div><\/div>\n<\/p>\n<p><div>But after further efforts to restart the lights failed, stewards and track management decided to call off the eighth race as a precautionary measure.<\/div>\n<\/p>\n<p><div><\/div>\n<\/p>\n<p><div>All win-place-show-exacta-trifecta and superfecta wagers on the eighth race were refunded.
