Auburn Police are waiting for a toxicology report on Richard Duncalf, the man shot and killed by Kent Police.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Detectives also are waiting for ballistics on the bullets fired by five officers and Duncalf.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Both reports will be issued by the Washington State Patrol crime lab. A toxicology report can reveal whether drugs or alcohol were in Duncalf’s body.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
“We are waiting for toxicology report which can take at least a month and we are waiting for ballistics on the shell casings recovered which could take months for the WSP lab to complete that,” said Auburn Police Cmdr. Steve Stocker in a Wednesday email.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Auburn Police are investigating the shooting because Kent officers were involved.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Duncalf, 28, died from multiple gunshot wounds in the July 20 shootout in the 22900 block of 86th Avenue South. Bullets also struck a large propane tank that exploded. Four officers were treated and released that same day from Valley Medical Center in Renton for minor injuries from the explosion.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Kent Police placed the five officers on paid administrative leave, standard procedure in officer-involved shootings.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Officers responded to a report of a man with a gun at the Howard Johnson Inn on North Central Avenue, according to Kent Police. The man reportedly hit\u00a0 an officer who showed up at the motel’s parking lot and brandished a firearm as he fled on foot.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
After a 90-minute search, officers spotted Duncalf running between local businesses. Duncalf reportedly shot at officers who then returned fire.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Kent Police have not yet released the names of the officers involved in the shooting because of the ongoing investigation.<\/p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
