The Service Station Dealers of America and Allied Trades believes that the passage of the Motor Vehicle Owners’ Right to Repair Act (S 3181/HR 2057) is critical to the long-term survival of a competitive automotive-repair industry. The Right to Repair bill protects consumer choice and saves drivers money by requiring big automobile manufacturers share relevant repair and safety information with local neighborhood automotive technicians and repair shops so that consumers retain the freedom to choose where and by whom their vehicles are serviced.

Our members overwhelmingly support the Right to Repair bill because they want to be able to compete fairly now and, more importantly, in the future. They are not seeking an unfair advantage, nor are they looking for access to the proprietary information protected by the bill. They simply seek equal access to safety and repair information from the carmakers. In other words, they don’t need to know how the carmakers build their vehicles, just how to repair them.

We encourage all motorists to visit www.righttorepair.org to send a letter to each of their congressional representatives, urging them to support the Right to Repair Act by adding their names to the growing list of co-sponsors.
