The Moose Jaw Warriors defeated the Seattle Thunderbirds 2-1 in a shootout Sunday night at the Civic Centre in Moose Jaw.<\/p>\n
The game was tied 1-1 after 65 minutes of play to send the game to a shootout. Moose Jaw elected to shoot first in the shootout.<\/p>\n
Antonin Honejsek was the first shooter for Moose Jaw. Seattle goalie Calvin Pickard stopped Honejsek’s five-hole attempt. Burke Gallimore was Seattle’s first shooter and his attempt went wide on the stick side of Moose Jaw goalie Thomas Heemskerk.<\/p>\n
Brendan Rowinski was the second Warriors shooter and he tried to go five-hole too. Pickard made the stop with his right pad. Marcel Noebels was the second Seattle shooter. Noebels came down on Heemskerk and put a snap shot on goal that Heemskerk snapped his glove at and caught.<\/p>\n
Quinton Howden was the third Moose Jaw shooter. He came down on Pickard, brought the puck to his backhand and lifted the puck over Pickard’s glove to score. Luke Lockhart was the T-Birds third shooter and needed to score to keep the T-Birds in the game. Lockhart was denied by a left pad save by Heemskerk.<\/p>\n
Moose Jaw outshot Seattle 13-7 in the first period.<\/p>\n
Seattle (6-4-2-3) took a 1-0 lead at 11:02 of the second period on 5-on-3 power-play goal by Noebels. Lockhart got the puck to the left of Moose Jaw goalie Thomas Heemskerk. Lockhart put a shot on goal that Heemskerk stopped. The puck rebounded into the crease where several players got a stick on it. The puck squirted to Noebels at the right post and he put the puck under the cross bar past a sprawling Heemskerk.<\/p>\n
Seattle outshot Moose Jaw 17-16 in the second period. The Warriors led in total shots, 29-24, after 40 minutes.<\/p>\n
Moose Jaw (10-8-0-1) tied the game 1-1 at 14:09 of the third period on a goal by Dylan Hood. Honejsek and Rowinski had the assists.<\/p>\n
The Warriors outshot the T-Birds 12-6 in the third period and led 41-30 in total shots after three periods.<\/p>\n
Moose Jaw outshot Seattle 3-0 in overtime and 45-30 in the game.<\/p>\n
Pickard stopped 43 of 44 shots and his record is now 6-4-2-3.<\/p>\n
Heemskerk made 29 saves on 30 shots and his record is now 8-8-0-1.<\/p>\n
The T-Birds will face the Saskatoon Blades on Tuesday, November 9, and the Prince Albert Raiders on Wednesday, November 10. They finish out the six-game road trip through the East Division against the Regina Pats on Friday, November 12, and Swift Current Broncos on Saturday, November 13.<\/p>\n
Their next home game is 7:35 p.m. Friday, Nov. 19, against the Everett Silvertips at the ShoWare Center.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
