Kent Police arrested a man for investigation of fourth-degree assault after he allegedly punched or slapped his wife during a dispute in their car about whether he had been cheating on her.

The wife called 911 at about 3:38 a.m. on July 31 and a dispatcher heard the woman screaming as the call remained open but the location of the call kept changing as the dispatcher determined the woman must be in a moving vehicle, according to the police report.

Police, with the assistance of Washington State Patrol troopers, eventually tracked the car to a house in the 23200 block of 132nd Place Southeast and found the couple inside the vehicle.

The wife told police that she and her husband had gone out separately with friends and later met up at a Denny’s restaurant in Burien. During the drive home, the wife asked her husband if he had been cheating on her. That question reportedly upset the husband as he became angry and struck her in the face with his hand.

A officer noted that the woman had swelling, redness and bruising on her cheek.

The husband denied hitting his wife. He told police they had an argument. When an officer asked him how his wife suffered bruises on her face, the husband said she tried to grab the steering wheel from him and ended up slamming her face into the dashboard as he held on to the wheel.

Man violates no-contact order

Officers arrested a man for investigation of violation of a protection order after they found him in a motor home with a woman who had filed the protection order against him.

An officer initially saw the motor home at about 5:40 p.m. on July 27 near Railroad Avenue South and East Gowe Street when the driver sped up to get across the railroad tracks as the crossing arms started to come down, according to the police report.

The motor home made it across with the arm barely touching the back of the vehicle. The officer then spotted the motor home parked downtown at the King County Library.

The man told police he had a suspended license and that he had just bought the motor home from a lady. Officers then saw a woman inside the motor home. The woman gave police her sister’s name at first because she didn’t want the man to get into trouble for violation of the no-contract order. Officers cited the woman for making a false statement.

Man tries to run from police

Police arrested a man for investigation of escape and obstruction after he ran from officers following a traffic stop at about 12:55 a.m. on July 29 in the 7000 block of South 238th Street.

Officers responded to a report of a parked vehicle blocking gates and driveway access, according to the police report. Officers saw the man asleep behind the steering wheel and knocked on the car door to wake him up.

When police ran a records check on the man, a report came back that the man could be a danger to police because he had assaulted an officer during a previous arrest. As officers placed the man in the back of a patrol vehicle, he managed to escape and ran westbound along South 238th Street.

The officers ran after the man, who reportedly tripped and fell to the ground a short distance away, where police again took him into custody.

Men steal bicycle, Legos

Officers cited two men for investigation of possession of stolen property after they allegedly took items out of an apartment garage at about 6:50 a.m. on July 29 in the 1000 block of Central Avenue North.

Officers responded to a report of a man looking into apartment windows and when they arrived found one man pushing a new bicycle and another man carrying a backpack and pulling a suitcase full of brand new Star Wars Lego sets still in the boxes, according to the police report.

Police later found out from another man that one of the men had tried to sell him the bicycle that he said he had stolen from Walmart. Officers discovered that a bicycle and Star Wars Lego sets recently had been stolen from the Auburn Walmart.

Kent Police arrested a man for investigation of fourth-degree assault after he allegedly punched or slapped his wife during a dispute in their car about whether he had been cheating on her.

[4
["post-15587","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news
