For the second consecutive game the Seattle Thunderbirds and Everett Silvertips went to a shootout to decide a game. And for the second consecutive game the T-Birds won the shootout to win the game.

Luke Lockhart scored the only shootout goal and Seattle goalie Calvin Pickard stopped all three Everett shooters to get the T-Birds a 4-3 shootout victory over the Silvertips at Comcast Arena in Everett Wednesday night.

Tuesday night at ShoWare Center Colin Jacobs scored the shootout winning goal in a 2-1 victory over Everett. In that game Pickard also stopped all three Everett shooters.

Luke Lockhart scored a shorthanded goal late in the first period and then had an even strength goal in the second period. Pickard made 32 saves on 35 shots to improve his record to 15-14-0-1.

Everett chose to shoot first in the shootout and sent out JT Barnett as their first shooter. Barnett tried a hard shot from the slot but Pickard kicked the puck away. Jacobs was the first shooter for Seattle. He went wide right, stickhandled the puck towards Everett goalie Kent Simpson and tried a backhand shot but was denied.

Ryan Harrison was the second shooter for Everett and he missed wide left. Connor Sanvido was second up for Seattle. Sanvido skated down on Simpson but the Everett goalie got his glove on Sanvido’s shot.

Kohl Bauml took Everett’s third shootout attempt. He tried to go five-hole but Pickard closed his legs and stopped the shot. Lockhart was Seattle’s third shooter. Lockhart came straight down on Simpson, faked a slap shot, forcing Simpson down, skated right and snapped a wrist shot past the prone goalie.

Cason Machacek gave the T-Birds a 1-0 lead at 9:12 of the first period with his first goal of the year. Connor Sanvido worked the puck up the boards to Machacek at the point. Machacek put a shot on goal with traffic in front of Simpson.

Everett (6-21-1-7) tied the game 1-1 at 14:05 of the first on a goal from Teal Burns. Harrison and Josh Winquist had the assists.

Seattle (15-17-0-1) took the lead back 2-1 at 18:46 of the first on a shorthanded goal from Lockhart. Lockhart got to a puck in the neutral zone and carried it into the Everett zone on the right side. He beat an Everett defender wide and then cut towards Simpson. Moving right to left Lockhart beat Simpson with a backhand shot for his eighth goal of the year.

Everett outshot Seattle 11-9 in the first period.

Lockhart extended the T-Birds lead to two goals at 7:42 of the second period. Brad Deagle got the puck to Marcel Noebels who got a shot on Simpson. The Everett goalie couldn’t control the high shot from Noebels and the puck dropped into the crease. Lockhart poked the loose puck past Simpson for his second goal of the night.

The Silvertips cut the T-Birds lead to one goal at 12:58 of the second when Ryan Harrison scored. Winquist and Bauml were credited with the assists.

The T-Birds outshot the Silvertips 12-11 in the second period. Everett held a 22-21 lead in shots after two periods.
