Seattle Thunderbirds goalie Jacob DeSerres stopped 34 of 35 shots Saturday night at ShoWare Center to lead the T-Birds to a 3-1 win over the Everett Silvertips.<\/p>\n

Seattle (19-22-1-3) took a 1-0 lead on a goal by Jim O’Brien at 1:57 of the first period. Jeremy Schappert brought the puck up the ice. Just inside the blue line Schappert passed the puck to Prab Rai in the left circle. Rai quickly cross the puck across the slot to O’Brien. O’Brien beat Everett goalie Thomas Heemskerk a quick snap shot high for his 14th goal of the year.<\/p>\n

It was Teddy Bear Toss night at the T-Birds game with fans throwing teddy bears on the ice after the O’Brien goal. The bears were collected by the WARM 106.9 FM Teddy Bear Patrol and will be distributed to local police and fire departments who give them to children in times of emergency and crisis.<\/p>\n

Both teams had 15 shots on goal in a scoreless first period.<\/p>\n

Tyler Maxwell scored a power-play goal at 3:16 of the second to tie the game 1-1. Kellan Tochkin and Byron Froese had the assists on the goal.<\/p>\n

Everett (21-18-5-0) outshot Seattle 12-11 in the second period and led 27-26 in total shots after two periods.<\/p>\n

Chris Cloud scored 18 seconds into the third period to give the T-Birds a 2-1 lead. Cloud beat Heemskerk from the left circle with a turnaround shot. Thomas Hickey and Jeremy Boyer had the assists on the goal.<\/p>\n

Boyer added an insurance goal at 17:17 of the third period. He tipped in a pass from Luke Lockhart from the left corner. Cloud had the second assist on the goal.<\/p>\n

Seattle outshot Everett 9-8 in the third period and both teams finished with 35 shots.<\/p>\n

DeSerres improved his record to 9-13-0-0 with the win.<\/p>\n

Heemskerk stopped 32 of 35 shots and his record is now 10-9-2-2.<\/p>\n

The T-Birds finish out the weekend against the Tri-City Americans on Sunday, January 18, at 5:05 p.m. at ShoWare Center.<\/p>\n
