Jockey Eliska Kubinova had a career day last Wednesday when she rode five winners on the Portland Meadows card.

She was back at it again Wednesday, only this time she won six times at Portland Meadows, moving into second place in the racetrack’s Thoroughbred riding standings with 58 wins, 10 behind Javier Matias who leads the standings with just two racing days left.

Kubinova, 23, a native of the Czech Republic, moved to the United States last year to pursue a riding career that she started at Emerald Downs. After riding at Emerald, she came to Portland Meadows and has been enjoying a strong meeting.

Her big day started off in the first race as she went wire to wire with Sweet Pleasure (8/5) for owner-trainer Sam Dronen. Kubinova came right back for Dronen in the second race as they met up with Tannersmillionaire (2/1) who was also a wire-to-wire winner. Kubinova was back in the third race aboard Atta Lora (8/5) for trainer Jonathan Nance, and she set a slow pace on the way to another front running score.

Rich Debut (3/1) was the mount for Eliska’s fourth winner on the program as they took command early and never looked back opening up to a solid win. Kubinova then got on board speedster Sasha B. (4/5) who set the fastest fractions of the day, but had plenty left late to win impressively.

Kubinova went into her final mount having already tied her career high for wins in a day with five, but she wasn’t done as she brought Mr. Ichiban (3/2) from just off the pace to score her sixth winner on the card, a new career high.
