October is a busy month for those running for public office.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Kent has scheduled three candidate forum\/debates for residents to attend.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

On the menu:<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0The Kent Chamber of Commerce and MultiCare Kent Clinic present a Kent City Council debate from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9 at the ShoWare Center, 625 W. James St.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Those scheduled to appear are City Council Position No. 2 candidates Jim Berrios and Wade Schwartz, and City Council Position No. 6 candidates Bailey Stober and Ken Sharp.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Cost is $20 for those who pre-registered, $25 day of the event and $30 for guests $30. Register at www.kentchamber.com<\/a> or call 253-854-1770.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0Voters can hear from candidates for mayor and the City Council at a candidate forum from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10 at Sunrise Elementary School, 22300 132nd Ave. SE.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

A group of Panther Lake residents are sponsoring the forum. Panther Lake’s 24,000 residents became part of the city of Kent in 2010 through annexation. The Nov. 5 ballot marks the first election for both the mayor and council positions since the annexation.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Those scheduled to appear include mayoral candidates Suzette Cooke and Tim Clark, and the four vying for City Council seats.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0The Kent Black Action Commission hosts a debate for mayoral, City Council and school board candidates from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18 in the Kent Commons’ Green River Room, 525 Fourth Ave N.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Bruce Elliott and Maya Vengadasalam are vying for a school board set.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
