{"id":15315,"date":"2011-11-16T16:15:14","date_gmt":"2011-11-17T00:15:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/spiken.wpengine.com\/news\/extra-dui-patrols-in-kent-king-county-nov-24-jan-2\/"},"modified":"2016-10-22T10:20:36","modified_gmt":"2016-10-22T17:20:36","slug":"extra-dui-patrols-in-kent-king-county-nov-24-jan-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kentreporter.com\/news\/extra-dui-patrols-in-kent-king-county-nov-24-jan-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Extra DUI patrols in Kent, King County Nov. 24-Jan. 2"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><p>Kent, Tukwila and other King County law enforcement agencies will conduct extra DUI patrols from Nov 24 through Jan. 2.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>Public education combined with strict enforcement is a proven method for reducing DUI crashes and fatalities, according to a <a title=\"DUI\" href=\"http:\/\/www.wtsc.wa.gov\/\" target=\"_self\">Washington Traffic Safety Commission<\/a> media release.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>In 2010, 188 people in the state died as a result of a crash involving a drinking driver. Between 2006 and 2010, the five-year total was 1,191.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>The participating police agencies include:<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>Algona, Auburn, Bellevue, Black Diamond, Burien, Clyde Hill, Covington, Des Moines, Duvall, Enumclaw, Federal Way, Issaquah, Kent, Kirkland, Maple Valley, Mercer Island, Newcastle, Normandy Park, North Bend, Pacific, Redmond, Renton, Sammamish, SeaTac, Seattle, Snoqualmie, and Tukwila.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>The Washington State Patrol also will commit extra patrol hours to make the roadways safer for everyone.
