{"id":15293,"date":"2014-09-09T14:42:01","date_gmt":"2014-09-09T21:42:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/spiken.wpengine.com\/news\/aerospace-machinists-raise-14000-with-charity-go-kart-race\/"},"modified":"2016-10-22T10:15:35","modified_gmt":"2016-10-22T17:15:35","slug":"aerospace-machinists-raise-14000-with-charity-go-kart-race","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kentreporter.com\/news\/aerospace-machinists-raise-14000-with-charity-go-kart-race\/","title":{"rendered":"Aerospace Machinists raise $14,000 with charity go-kart race"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><p><strong>For the Reporter<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>Machinists Union Local Lodge 751-F&#8217;s second annual Karting Challenge raised more than $14,000 for charity last Saturday at PGP Motorsports Park at Pacific Raceways.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>Twenty teams, each with as many as four drivers, raced for two hours on the 0.9-mile track, hitting speeds up to 50 mph. The racing was close \u2013 the top two teams finished eight seconds apart.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>&#8220;The folks at Pacific Raceways were great to work with, and thanks to our teams, we had a great time, and raised a lot of money for a very worthy cause,&#8221; said Local 751-F President Robley Evans.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>All the proceeds are going to Guide Dogs of America, the California-based charity that provides service dogs, and training in their use, free of charge to people who are blind or have impaired vision from across the United States and Canada.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>Local 751-F is affiliated with Machinists Union District Lodge 751, which is the top fundraiser for Guide Dogs of America.
