A corrections officers at the Kent city jail used a Taser to control a woman who reportedly refused to cooperate during her Nov. 27 booking after her arrest by Kent Police for investigation of disorderly conduct.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The woman allegedly refused to take off her jacket at the jail and officers forced her to the ground in one of the cells, according to the police report.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The woman then reportedly refused to lay on her stomach so the jacket could be removed. A corrections officer warned the woman a Taser would be used on her if she continued to struggle. When the woman didn’t follow instructions, the officer fired the Taser. That stopped the woman from struggling and officers removed her jacket.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The incident began with a report of a verbal dispute between the woman and a female friend at about 1 a.m. Nov. 27 at a condo in the 25100 block of 109th Place Southeast.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
After drinking alcohol to celebrate the birthday of the friend, the two women got in a verbal argument and the friend asked the woman to leave.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The woman walked away from the condo but then returned to the condo, shouted at police and refused to leave after officers told her to leave. Officers grabbed the woman by her arm and handcuffed her.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Officers noted that the woman seemed extremely intoxicated. Witnesses reported that they had heard the woman yelling at her friend.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The woman stayed in the jail for about 12 hours before being released on bail.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Theft<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/p>\n Police arrested a man for investigation of third-degree theft and possession of drug paraphernalia after he reportedly took $143 worth of items Nov. 26 from the Safeway store at 210 Washington Ave. S.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n The man told officers he took the items because he needed to feed his children and didn’t have any money, according to the police report. A loss prevention officer at the store saw the man put items in bags and leave the store without paying.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Officers asked the man if he needed food why only about $27 worth of food items were removed from shelves while he took a large amount of cleaning supplies and other items.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n The man answered that a church had provided him with a nearby motel room but the room wasn’t clean enough so he needed the supplies to clean the room.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Officers also discovered the man had two crack cocaine pipes in his pockets. The man said he had smoked crack the previous day after paying $40 for the crack from a man up on Pacific Highway South.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Assault<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/p>\n Officers cited a man at large for fourth-degree assault after he allegedly continually pushed his girlfriend back down on a couch during a dispute at about 10:40 a.m. Nov. 25 at a home in the 23100 block of 116th Avenue Southeast.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n The boyfriend left the house before officers arrived, according to the police report.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n The girlfriend told police that she had made a statement about her boyfriend’s ex-wife that her boyfriend’s son heard which caused the boy to cry.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n The boyfriend then entered the room and started to argue with the woman. As the woman tried to stand up from a couch, he reportedly kept pushing her back down.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n A daughter of the girlfriend grabbed a flashlight and threw it at the boyfriend but missed. The boyfriend then left the house.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Stolen property<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/p>\n Police arrested a man for investigation of possession of stolen property, having vehicle prowling tools and obstruction of justice during an incident at about 10:05 a.m. Nov. 25 at the Sound Transit parking garage, 320 Second Ave. N.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Officers found a backpack in the corner of the fourth-floor of the garage and then found the man walking out of a nearby stairwell carrying a coil of copper wire, according to the police report.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n The backpack contained a socket set, tool belt, voltage meters, traffic safety vests and other items. The man admitted he had taken the items from several vehicles in the Renton and Tukwila areas. He also had shaved keys that are used to enter locked vehicles.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n The man initially failed to give police his real name which led to the obstruction of justice arrest.
