Paintings by Seattle artist Jean Bradbury are featured through May 31 at Kent’s Centennial Center Gallery<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

The free exhibit is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday in the city’s Centennial Center, 400 W. Gowe St. The gallery is closed weekends and holidays.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\u201cI paint gardens inhabited by whimsical and often vulnerable creatures,” Bradbury said on the city’s website. “Both joyful and sinister, these places celebrate our own gentle natures in a world where anxiety and heartache lurk. My paintings remind me to observe nature and to take care with our world and our hearts. There is beauty in the small and strength in intimacy.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Bradbury was born in the Shetland Islands, U.K. in 1963. She grew up in New Brunswick, Canada on her parent\u2019s organic farm where she learned to see plants and animals as a natural part of her emotional life.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

After completing her arts degree in painting at Queen\u2019s University, Bradbury she spent time traveling through Europe and the Near East developing an interest in art history, natural dyes and archeology.<\/p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
