{"id":14869,"date":"2016-02-11T12:24:26","date_gmt":"2016-02-11T20:24:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/spiken.wpengine.com\/news\/firefighters-extinguish-fire-at-kent-apartment-complex\/"},"modified":"2016-10-22T00:45:31","modified_gmt":"2016-10-22T07:45:31","slug":"firefighters-extinguish-fire-at-kent-apartment-complex","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kentreporter.com\/news\/firefighters-extinguish-fire-at-kent-apartment-complex\/","title":{"rendered":"Firefighters extinguish fire at Kent apartment complex"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><p>Kent firefighters extinguished an apartment fire late Thursday morning in the <a title=\"map\" href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/place\/1620+Maple+Ln,+Kent,+WA+98030\/@47.3648837,-122.2294248,665m\/data=!3m1!1e3!4m2!3m1!1s0x54905947affa6d5d:0xa02bff863ee7ba15\" target=\"_self\">1600 block of Maple Lane<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>Four people were displaced by the fire, called in by one of the apartment residents at about 11:33 a.m.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>Paramedics transported one person to a local hospital to be treated for exposure to smoke and minor burns, according to the Kent Fire Department Regional Fire Authority.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>An electrical failure in the laundry room vent fan caused the accidental fire, according to investigators. The first caused an estimated $25,000 in damages.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>When firefighters from the Kent RFA and Valley Regional Fire Authority arrived, they found smoke coming from a second-story apartment. A quick attack on the fire kept it to the one unit, though there was some water damage in the first floor unit as well, according to a Kent RFA media release.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>Residents of both units were displaced due to the power being shut off to the apartments.
