My Skin<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/p>\n by Weang Weang (with Daliantae McNeil)<\/p>\n<\/p>\n My skin is like shadows on the ground<\/p>\n<\/p>\n That keep you cool when it\u2019s hot<\/p>\n<\/p>\n My skin is like sweet chocolate cookies<\/p>\n<\/p>\n My skin is like crows<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Flying in the sky naturally<\/p>\n<\/p>\n My skin is like the nights when you dream<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Sweet dreams and not sour<\/p>\n<\/p>\n My skin is like black labels<\/p>\n<\/p>\n My skin is like juicy olives<\/p>\n<\/p>\n My skin is like soft panda skin<\/p>\n<\/p>\n My skin is like dark knights armor<\/p>\n<\/p>\n My skin is like a black tuxedo<\/p>\n<\/p>\n My skin is like ants marching from one place to another<\/p>\n<\/p>\n My skin is like a fast furious and sneaky puma<\/p>\n<\/p>\n My skin is like sweet hot cocoa<\/p>\n<\/p>\n When I\u2019m happy I taste like gumdrops<\/p>\n<\/p>\n When I\u2019m happy I smell like fresh pears<\/p>\n<\/p>\n My feeling is creative and powerful<\/p>\n<\/p>\n When I dream I see music filling people\u2019s hearts<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Just cause I\u2019m dark like the night sky<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Doesn\u2019t mean I can\u2019t shine like the bright stars<\/p>\n<\/p>\n So think before you speak next time cause<\/p>\n<\/p>\n This is the way I am<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Weang Weang is a fourth-grader at Park Orchard Elementary in Kent.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/p>\n Park Orchard, 11010 S.E. 232nd St., was the first Kent school to partner with Seattle Arts and Lectures to offer the Writers in the Schools program. Park Orchard joined the Writers in the Schools program two years ago.
