People have complained recently to the Kent Police about an Internal Revenue Service phone call scam.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

The caller says they demand payment via Money Pak and if they don\u2019t pay immediately a warrant will be issued and police will be dispatched to arrest them.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

The police want residents to know that the IRS call is not real and if this happens to you to call 911 to report the scam. Remember if it doesn’t seem right, it’s not.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

You can always hang up and call the real IRS to determine if something is wrong.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Kent Police reported on May 21 that it had received complaints about the IRS calls.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

The IRS posted a warning in April on its website <\/a>about the calls that continue throughout the year.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

“The IRS will always send taxpayers a written notification of any tax due via the U.S. mail,” according to the IRS website. “The IRS never asks for credit card, debit card or prepaid card information over the telephone.
