Macrina Bakery<\/a> had a grand opening on Monday at its new Kent headquarters, 19215 66th Ave. S.<\/a>,\u00a0 including free coffee and a ribbon cutting by Mayor Suzette Cooke.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n A cafe, attached to the new wholesale bakery, is open from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday through Friday in the north Kent warehouse area.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Macrina offers artisanal breads, cornetti (Italian-style croissants), pastries, cakes, tarts, sandwiches, soups and other savory items.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n The company decided to move to Kent from Seattle because it needed a larger space and found better lease rates. The bakery supplies numerous restaurants, markets and hotels from Edmonds to Tacoma to Port Townsend.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Macrina employs about 175 and features nearly 40,000 square feet of space for the bakery, storage, cafe and offices.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Leslie Mackie opened Macrina in 1993 in Seattle to showcase her love of artisanal bread.
