The Victoria Royals defeated the Seattle Thunderbirds 2-1 in overtime Friday night at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Arena in Victoria, British Columbia.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The teams meet again at 7:05 p.m. Saturday in Victoria.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The T-Birds return home to ShoWare Center on Tuesday, November 19, to face the Kelowna Rockets at 7:05 p.m.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Seattle (11-8-1-2) took an early 1-0 lead 1:32 into the first period. A Mathew Barzal centering pass from the right boards deflected to the left point. Kevin Wolf got the puck and took a shot with Branden Troock standing in front of Victoria goalie Coleman Vollrath. Troock tipped Wolf’s shot past Vollrath for the opening goal.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Victoria outshot Seattle 11-6 in the first period.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Victoria (13-9-0-1) tied the game 1-1 on an unassisted goal from Brandon Magee at a 12:59 of the second period. Magee got control of the puck off the left boards, curled to the top of the left circle and beat Seattle goalie Danny Mumaugh over the glove.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The Royals led 26-14 in shots after two periods by outshooting the T-Birds 15-8 in the second period.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Both teams had seven shots on goal in third period with the Royals lead 33-21 overall in shots after regulation.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Logan Nelson scored 52 seconds into overtime to give the Royals the win. Ben Walker centered the puck from behind the Seattle net to Nelson and he beat Mumaugh. Isaac Schacher had the second assist on the goal.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Mumaugh ended with 32 saves on 34 shots and his record is now 5-4-1-2.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Vollrath stopped 21 of 22 shots and his record is 5-1-0-1.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
