A $49,000 grant is being provided to each Kent School District school participating in an innovative math program created by the MIND Research Institute.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
There are 11 elementary schools and one academy in the district that are participating.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The math program uses pictures, animations, and games to help students learn and master math concepts including algebra.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is an exciting opportunity to continue providing powerful and effective education tools to help each and every one of our kids meet high standards,\u201d said Edward Lee Vargas, superintendent.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The grant provides student licenses for the ST Math: K-5 for students in kindergarten through fifth grade or ST Math: Secondary Intervention at the middle school level.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
There is also training for teachers and administrators on results-oriented program implementation.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The program will start in schools next year.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Horizon Elementary<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
