crime spree began one week ago when a pair of men brandishing a handgun robbed two convenience stores in Kent, according to a Kent Police media release.

Federal Way Police arrested a 31-year-old man, a 24-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman for investigation of robbery. One man and woman were arrested outside of a South Seattle residence. Police arrested the other man at a home in Renton.

Detectives from the involved agencies met late Wednesday to compare notes and develop a plan to locate the three suspects. By early Friday morning Federal Way detectives were able to identify a vehicle associated to the crime spree and by Friday afternoon, locate and arrest three suspects.

“We’re very grateful for the focused efforts of these detectives in identifying the suspects and taking each person into custody without incident,” said Kent Police Assistant Chief Pat Lowery.

The three people are being detained in connection to the Federal Way robberies, though it is anticipated that the Kent cases will be filed by Monday.

In the first incident in Kent, a store employee was struck in the head with the gun, resulting in a significant laceration. Robbers struck again Wednesday evening, hitting two convenience stores in Federal Way and one in Renton.

Surveillance video in Federal Way showed two suspects holding up the Chevron gas station, 1712 S. 356th St., and then the 7-Eleven, 28719 Military Road S. One photo shows a robber holding his gun to a clerk’s head.

In the first robbery, the suspects stole cash and cigarettes, but came up empty handed in the second robbery. The store clerk at the 7-Eleven was violently assaulted, police said, and a suspect’s gun was discharged in the incident.

About 30 minutes later, another robbery took place in Renton.
